Our Services

HVAC Service, Repair & Diagnostics

Honest diagnostic and repair work on existing heating and cooling systems for homes and businesses across Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina.

When your heat or air conditioning isn't working right, you want someone who will find the real problem, explain it clearly and fix it properly. That's how Hal Nystrom has built H&S Mechanical's reputation over more than 25 years in the HVAC trade.

We diagnose and repair air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, gas packs, ductless mini-splits and light commercial equipment. If a repair makes sense, we'll fix it. If your system has reached the point where replacement is the better investment, we'll tell you why and let you decide.

We also provide system cleanings and check-ups to help catch small problems before they turn into breakdowns.

FAQ

HVAC Service, Repair & Diagnostics: common questions

Straight answers from our team. Have another question? Give us a call.

Yes. We diagnose and repair most residential and light commercial heating and cooling equipment, regardless of who installed it.

The most common causes are a clogged condensate drain line, a cracked drain pan or a frozen coil that's melting. If water is pooling, turn the system off and give us a call so we can find the cause.

Common causes include a dirty air filter, a dirty or frozen coil, low refrigerant from a leak, or a failed capacitor or fan motor. Check your filter and thermostat settings first; if that doesn't fix it, call us for a diagnosis.

Most manufacturers recommend professional maintenance at least once a year, and many heat pump owners schedule a check-up before both the cooling and heating seasons. Regular cleanings help your system run efficiently and last longer.
